Stomach cancer is a significant health issue that requires innovative treatments. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) involves using lasers to destroy cancer cells, but its effectiveness is limited by the optical properties of tissues, which can hinder the laser's reach and damage healthy cells. Creating a photonic endoscope to deliver laser light with high precision is crucial, as it would improve treatment outcomes and reduce side effects. Our research analyzed current gastric cancer therapies and photon technologies through patent searches and literature reviews, underscoring the importance of advancing PDT delivery for more effective and targeted treatment.
