The increasing global demand for lithium, driven by its use in traditional and advanced technologies, highlights the need for efficient extraction methods. Over 60% of lithium resources are found in salt lake brines, making Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) using sorbents a promising approach. This study explores Li-Al LDH sorbents, which offer high lithium ion selectivity, adsorption capacity, and stability under varying pH and temperature conditions. Doping with metals (Fe, Zn) enhances adsorption and simplifies desorption, while embedding the sorbent in a polymer matrix improves practicality. Characterization via infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy confirmed the material's structure, with ion chromatography evaluating performance.
