This study explores non-viral gene therapy for uterine fibroids, aiming to improve delivery methods. The primary goal of the study was to optimize the packaging volume of DNA-peptide complexes and test their stability in a solution containing a polyanion. Additionally, the aim was to determine the degree of binding efficiency of these complexes to DNA and the efficiency of their transfection. Experiments confirmed that reducing the complex volume didn't negatively impact DNA binding, transfection efficiency in PANC-1 cells, or cell viability. Furthermore, the complexes successfully delivered the gfp gene to uterine fibroid tissue ex vivo, demonstrating their potential for targeted gene therapy.
