This study explores the advancements in optical applications by investigating laser-induced modifications in the refractive index and transmittance of polymers and volume phase masks. Using a helium-cadmium (He-Cd) laser at 325 nm, controlled exposure alters optical properties, enabling precise adjustments for photonic applications. Experimental analysis reveals structural changes affecting light propagation, enhancing the efficiency of optical components. The findings contribute to the development of advanced materials for waveguides, holography, and optical data storage. This research supports future innovations in photonics, improving the design and functionality of optical devices.
