Traditional detection methods for ochratoxin A, a dangerous food contaminant, are expensive and time-consuming. Aptamers, which are single-stranded DNA or RNA molecules, offer a promising alternative due to their high affinity and specificity. To overcome the limitations of the conventional SELEX method for aptamer selection, the research team is developing an in silico data-driven approach for aptamer design. The project aims to validate these in silico-designed aptamers using fluorescence-based optical sensing, leveraging its simplicity and speed for potential use in food industry quality control.
