The report is devoted to the development and research of a fibre optic system to determine the shape of a flexible instrument and its positioning in space. The technical aspects of such a system, its potential applications and advantages over existing methods are considered, as well as the results of modelling the sensitive element and its externalimpact (deformation and temperature) .
