In recent years microstructured nanoscale substrates made of silver, gold and copper have been of great interest in the field of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). SERS is a promising spectroscopic method to analyse chemicals at extremely low concentrations (up to a few molecules) applicable to micro-organisms, cells and tissues as well as for disease diagnosis, DNA research and biomedical applications. However, there are several problems with existing platforms that need to be addressed intelligently. In this work, a simple method of producing a substrate for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy without complicated syntheses and special equipment will be presented to solve the problems in this field.
